My name is  Melanie. I am a certified florist and new to the floral industry. 

I always love flowers. I came from the Philippines and we have different kinds of beautiful flowers. When I moved to the United States in 2012, I fell in love with the beauty of Washington State. The flowers here are so gorgeous. So in 2014, my family moved to Puyallup and saw how my neighbor's beautiful roses were.  They have so many variety of roses which I love. So I asked my husband if we could try to order a few. We ordered a bunch and fell in love with them, so we added more and more each year. I am so amazed at how they grow and smell. So during the pandemic, my workplace was in lockdown. My residents were sad because no family members could visit, I started to share bouquets with my residents, friends at work, and co-workers. I also donated a lot of flowers for my resident flower arrangement class. They were so beautiful. I arranged them like other florist do. Then a lot of my residents advised me stating, " you know what, you are really good in arranging flowers, why don't you start a flower business?". At first, I just ignored it because I didn't think I could do such a thing, but they kept advising me to have a flower shop business. I had a resident who used to be a florist. She taught me a lot of things regarding flowers, arrangements, and the business aspect. She shared with me a lot regarding ways how to take care of flowers and to be involved in the flower industry. The resident and I were very close, unfortunately she passed away. It was very sad, but after that; all the things she told me and taught me kept haunting my mind. One day i made a huge decision and decided to try something different. I went to a Florist training class and made inquiries about getting a business license. I later became a certified florist and got my business license. Her daughter and son also shared many books to help me in the future. It was a long and difficult road, but here I am starting my floral journey.

I have been a florist for over a year now and have a store. I love it very much. I love people's reaction when they receive flowers. I love the smiles, and I love it how happy and surprise they are. Its a wonderful feeling. Thank you for all your support and its been an honor to create something special for your loved ones.
